Dr. Nicole Guitar profile

Dr. Nicole Guitar is a pelvic health physiotherapist, researcher, and clinical instructor whose work integrates clinical practice, research, and knowledge translation. She serves as an Adjunct Professor in the School of Physical Therapy at Western University, where her research has focused on interdisciplinary rehabilitation, workforce capacity, and chronic pelvic pain. Her current work examines the effectiveness of virtual pelvic health physiotherapy and the integration of electrical muscle stimulation technologies in the conservative management of pelvic floor dysfunction. In addition to her academic role, Dr. Guitar is involved in clinical education, including leading innovative virtual pelvic health placements. She maintains an active clinical practice and holds leadership roles in pelvic health service delivery. She is the Director of Physiotherapy and Professional Practice at the National Pelvic Health Collective across Canada, where she supports clinicians in advancing evidence-based, patient-centered care. Dr. Guitar has presented her work nationally and internationally, including at the International Continence Society and the Canadian Society of Pelvic Medicine. She holds a PhD in Physical Therapy, a Master of Physical Therapy, and a Master of Science in Behavioural and Cognitive Neuroscience.
